FAQ
about uploading photos:
1) What formats can my pictures be in?
For best results, upload a .JPG file that is about 450x450 pixels in size. However, you may also upload .BMP and .GIF files and the HEROLIST system will convert and re-size the file automatically.
2) My file is in BMP or GIF or TIF or EPS or PSD or some other
format. What do I do?
Most photo editing software will allow you to convert the
file to a different format. Check the software that came with
your scanner or digital camera, and you should find an option
to save in JPG format. If not, you need to purchase an image
editing suite at a local retailer, or download an image editing
software package from a vendor. For some examples, search
the CNET Download.com site at: "http://www.download.com".
One example package that includes these features is Paint
Shop Pro. Another is IrfanView 3.61. There are hundreds of
others.
3) What is the limit to the size of the photo?
Files uploaded should between about 400 to 500 pixels wide, and
400 to 500 pixels tall and saved at 72 dpi (dots per inch).
72 dpi is the default for most pictures, if you aren't sure
what your file is, go ahead and try it. In addition, the file
size must be 200K or less. HEROLIST will automatically resize your picture to be the proper size to display.
4) How do you find out the size of an image on your computer?
Your scanner or digital camera should include image editing
software. Open the photo in any image editing software such

Information". Look for information that specifies the height
and width of the picture.

bar, or check the manual that came with your image editing
package. If you do not have an image editing package we recommend
"Paint Shop Pro".
7) When I scan the picture on my scanner, what settings should
